1955 Chicago Coin Steam Shovel
Restored by
Bart Hull

Just after "Granite Gray" base coat I started laying on the layers of red
and yellow graphics. Luckily, the person who painted it with a roller
"robin egg blue" quit before they ruined the original interior.

Here we are with my new legs, new bolts, freshly chromed coin drop and return
and the bottom portion of the graphics done. Its alot of work using paint
markers and cardboard stencils created from a picture of an original cabinet.
The artwork was converted from picture to full size graphics by Ken Hermann
from San Diego. Many Thanks are due to him.

Here we are complete except for a little red left to color in.
It looks awesome and works perfect once I cleaned all the
contact points in the games back. The object of the game is to
pickup the "dirt" (beans), rotate the crane and dump the bucket into
the yellow hopper which drops the load into the weighing bucket
below. The round scale you see above show how many "tons" you
have moved and as you move more and more the lighted display on
the left ranks you as beginner, advanced, qualified and expert.
All for just .10

Finished product in my game room.
