Mr. Luther Sprowles, 81, of 201 Underwood Street in Campbellsville, s on of the late Mr. George Alfred Sprowles and Mrs. Bettie Jane Johnson Spr owles, was born in Taylor County, March 3, 1890. He died at 3:20 p.m., Th ursday, November 11, 1971, at the Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsvill e. He entered the hospital three weeks ago. He professed faith in Chri st early in life and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Churc h. He was one of the best known and most respected traveling salesm an in Central Kentucky. He united in marriage to Miss Mittie Foley, Octob er 4, 1909. She preceded him in death, April 18, 1967. To this union, o ne son was born, Dr. Lee Sprowles, Professor at the University of Geor ge at Athens, Ga. Besides his son, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Pea rl Chambers of Greenwood, Ind.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Maggie Sprowles of Cam pbellsville; two nephews and one niece: Mrs. Richard Sublett and Mr. Geor ge Sprowles, both of Campbellsville, and Mr. Forest !
Lee Chambers of Greenwood, Ind. Funeral services were conducted Saturd ay afternoon, November 13, in the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home by D r. J. Chester Badgett. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Confederate Pension Record for Charley Stewart Jordan

His Date of birth is given in the Confederate Pension record.
He resided in Upshur county Texas in February of 1904, when
he filed the pension request. He stated his occupation to be
that of a Farmer. He enlisted in Robertson County, Texas in
the Spring of 1861 and was discharged in the Spring of 1865.
He stated he was in Company "C". The record states that
he was a private, Company "C", Young's 12th (also called
the 8th) Regiment, Texas infantry, C.S.A, enlisted 1 December,
1861, at Camp Hebert, and that he was present for duty with
his command 29 February, 1864, the date of the last muster
roll of the company on file.
Charles Stewart Jordan died on 23 August 1908, as given by
his wife Amanda, in her Confederate Pension request on 17
September 1908.

She lived 99 years, 3 months and 19 days.
The average human life is about 33 years. About Cameron you may see a whi te headed man who lived out two average lives but you will find none who h ave watched the coming and going of three generations as did Mrs. Foste r. And why one should remain with us a century and a million depart long b efore has never been explained.
Miss Elizabeth Slaughter was married Jan. 22, 1834 to Isaac Foster and w as the mother of 17 children, 11 boys and 6 girls of whom 5 boys and one g irl survive her. Her youngest child is now 57 years old. She had at the ti me of her death some 50 decendants living. She came, with her husband to T exas about the time of the Mexican war has resided in this state for 70 ye ars.
Her husband died 45 years ago. After her daughters were all married she li ved with her two youngest sons, who never married and when the fleeting ye ars robbed her almost entirely of sight and rendered her incapable of a ny household duties these two boys, grown to be old gray-headed men, wi th faithful loving care attended to all her needs and at the same time toi led in the fields for comforts for her and a living for themselves; they w ere faithful to the end.
The long life of Mrs. Foster was an exemplary one that her children devote dly loved was proof of her good qualities and duty well done.
