This lineage is still not verified, although at least two other researche rs have Mary Jane Underwood for the 2nd wife of Felix Grundy Warren.

Family records of our own listed Felix Grundy Warren's 2nd wife as Mary Ja ne Johnson.

Possible Leads:
One of the sons of Abraham Holland Underwood and Mary Jane Morgan Underwo od was a John Henry Underwood born August 7, 1866, in Perry County, Alabam a. In Mary Lee Underwood's (his sister) journal, he wrote "going to Texas ". This was dated June 6, 1888. Numerous members of this Underwood fami ly were in the Bell County area in the late 1880s, according to Mary Lee 's journal.

Hopefully, this will be a match.

My Underwood Family is from Holland,Sparks, and Little River all in Bell C ounty and all in an area of 15-20 miles apart. My Underwood family marri ed into the Morgan family...I would think there has to be some kind of con nection...I would like to talk to you more about this..My family came to B ell co sometime between the later 1800's or early 1900's...I have a pictu re taken in 1902 of the Underwoods and Morgans.

Peter Underwood was in Green County in 1830 and 1840.
He had children that fits Mary Jane Underwoods birth timeframe.
Most of his children are not listed in record thus far.

Also living nearby is Ila Johnson. It may be that Mary Jane Underwood
first married a Johnson, perhaps from Ila's family, then later married
Felix Grundy Warren. It would explain our family indicating Mary Jane
was a Johnson and other families indicating Mary Jane was a Underwood.

General Notes for Child James Isaac Warren

Family Records list the place of birth near Hodgenville, which is
in Larue County. Other sources list the birth in Taylor county,
Kentucky. James father was Felix Grundy, who was listed in
Taylor County census data for 1860, 1870, and 1880.
Hodgenville is very close to the Larue, Taylor and Green county
lines. Our Warrens lived in this area. Many of our Warren's
married and died in Larue County.

1870 Census lists James in Taylor County, Kentucky. He is
listed with Parents Felix Grundy Warren and Mary Jane Underwood.
Also listed is sister Elizabeth.

1880 Census lists James in Taylor County, Kentucky. He is
listed with Parents Felix Grundy Warren and Mary Jane Underwood.
Also listed is sister Elizabeth.

1900 Census lists James in Precinct 6, Milam County, Texas. He is listed
as James R. Warren, without a wife at this time. Robert-10, Thurman-8,
and Lorena-6 were listed on the Census records.

February 1920 Federal Census lists James in Lubbock County, Texas,
precinct 5, living in the household of his son, Thurman B. Warren. Also
living with Thurman were wife Lois, son Eugene.

General Notes for Child Elizabeth 'Bettie' D. Warren

Elizabeth (Warren) Skaggs died in Bell County, Texas. Her death
certificate stated her father was F. G. Warren, but no mother was
listed. F.G. Warren was listed as born in Kentucky. The informant
listed on the death certificate was a half-nephew, Allen White Warren.

William and Elizabeth (Warren) Skaggs had no children. They lived very
close to the Felix Grundy Warren branch of the family, some who had
moved from Taylor County, Kentucky to Bell County, Texas between
1883-1884.
