Welcome to HiveMind
HiveMind is the the
creation of Brian Brumfield, Gregory Bullock, and Donovan Loucks. A mesmerizing
power trio, these three musical geniuses power out the tunes like no other rock
band can. Although they'd known each other for years, they combined their
instrumental talents less than a year ago, and already no copies remain of their
first album, elegantly self-titled, HiveMind (pictured at left).
Their first performance was for a private audience whose stunned
silence told volumes. Although this trio formed only minutes earlier, the
synchrony that exists between them gave the impression that they'd played
together for hours. Brian leads the pack on guitar, Gregory keeps pace on
rhythm guitar, and Donovan drums on what he's termed his "Big Mouf'
Bucket".
When they first formed, deriving a name for the band was a long and
difficult task. Many obscure names were suggested, such as Aleph
Null, and others that can't be printed here. One of the more amusing
names was Various Artists, suggested because spaces already existed
in record stores for a group so named. Donovan Loucks explains the name
of the group:
We'd commented for years that the collective knowledge of
the universe was contained within our few brains. We often found that
information gathered by one of us could be retrieved by the others, and
the notion soon circulated amongst us that we possessed a "hive mind"--a
group of minds linked as a unit. Bees are all individuals, yet they often
act as a unit for the betterment of the hive. When we again considered a
name for our group, HiveMind became the obvious
choice.
Their on-stage presence is certainly unified, with each of the three
musicians able to make the other two appear superior. They currently have
no intention to tour, but if their popularity at home continues at its
present rate, they'll have no choice but to take their act on the
road.
